These radios usually have serial numbers starting with VWZ.
How to enter VW radio code
Follow these steps:
Turn ignition ON.
Turn radio ON.
Display should show SAFE or CODE.
Use preset buttons 1–4 to enter the code.
Press and hold SCAN, OK, or SEEK button to confirm.
Radio should unlock.
Example: If your code is 1234:
Press button 1 until 1 appears
Press button 2 until 2 appears
Press button 3 until 3 appears
Press button 4 until 4 appears
Hold OK / Scan to confirm
If radio shows SAFE
If the radio shows SAFE, leave the radio turned ON for about 30–60 minutes until it allows code entry again.
VW radio code from serial number
If you don’t have the VW radio code, you can generate it from the VWZ serial number located on the radio label.
Once you enter the correct code, the radio will unlock permanently unless the battery is disconnected again.
